People Helping People - Cool Concept Don't Ya Think?

I think it is important that during times when people are struggling because of events that happen in their lives, that they know they are NOT alone. It can be a natural disaster, it can be the diagnosis of cancer for a loved one, it can be the birth of your baby way too soon, and it can be finding out your child has something that you never expected.

Any of these things can turn your life upside down, make you feel like you're alone and can't get out of that deep dark hole. Well, these are some things that are going on that make it a little bit better, and show people that they are not alone, that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

So, please find it in yourself to check out these links.

Tide Loads of Hope helps in the aftermath of a natural disaster by providing clean clothes and a sense of comfort to families in need. Partnering with Feeding America, we travel to disaster affected neighborhoods with the Tide Loads of Hope truck or vans, our free mobile laundry service.

Tide Loads of Hope truck:

  • 32 high-efficiency washers and dryers stationed on the truck

  • Can do 300 wash and dry cycles a day -equal to one year's worth of laundry for a single family

  • Will wash about 9,000 loads of laundry over a four-week period

  • Leveraged during massive disasters where electricity is unavailable in the region
Tide Loads of Hope vans:
  • In partnership with a local laundromat, the Tide Loads of Hope vans provide free laundry service at the same load rate as the trucks

  • Leveraged during disasters where neighboring communities still have a source of electricity
To date, Tide Loads of Hope has washed more than 35,000 loads of laundry for over 20,000 families. Most importantly, the Tide Loads of Hope program means we're equipped to take action whenever and wherever there is a need in our country. Tide Loads of Hope Vintage Tees: Tide Loads of Hope can also be supported through the purchase of a Tide Vintage Tee. All profits go to support families affected by disaster. Shirts can be purchased through this link: Tide® Loads of Hope™ T-Shirts

PURPLE DAY

Last but not least, and fast approaching, is Purple Day on March 26th. Purple Day is about raising awareness of Epilepsy around the World.

My son has epilepsy, and I will tell you it is very scary. Not something that many people are aware of, and that is why this little girl, and her goal, is so cool. Check out Cassidy Megan, the little girl who started Purple Day.

"Hi, my name is Cassidy Megan. I’m nine years old and I have epilepsy. I started Purple Day because I wanted to tell everyone about epilepsy, especially that all seizures are not the same and that people with epilepsy are ordinary people just like everyone else. I also wanted kids with epilepsy to know that they are not alone."

Show your support, wear your support, wear purple. We have made up some t-shirts to show our support. Each of my daughters, along with Daniel and my daughters friends and co-workers will all be wearing our purple shirts on the 26th of March. If you're interested in purchasing a shirt, send me an email (mspranger@wowway.com) and we'll get you hooked up!

I fully believe, people helping people will make this world a better place for our kids. So, be it wearing a purple shirt for a day, pledging a few dollars, or giving some time and walking for something you believe in, find a way to show you care. But, don't let another day go by without showing your support. It's the littlest things that help us all survive day to day.

Melanie,

I love your blogs. I enjoy reading them everyday. I also love your signature at the bottom. What a cool font! I'm glad Daniel is feeling better.

I was just thinking of this concept as my church was on national news helping our community out by feeding several hundred families.

Take Care,
Jen
