iPad...The next best thing to sliced bread?

OK so whose getting the new iPad when it becomes available in a few days?
I would love to get it for Daniel.

We currently have the iTouch with the app called Proloquo2Go. The screen is a little small for him and I think the iPad would be awesome. Its suppose to be lightweight, and the stuff I read about all sounds great.

I'd like to hear other peoples thoughts on it. Let me know...

Hi Melanie,

I am really keen to see it too!
WE also have the itouch and pro for cooper but he has issues with getting his pointer finger or even thumb to make a direct hit on the icon he wants.

Same here - iTouch and Proloquo2go, but the icons are small and Q's fine motor stuff is still just not *that* fine. ;o) Baclofen has helped him to get those fingers out and working, but it's still not all it could be. Would LOVE to have an iPad for him - such a difference it would make, you know?

HI Melanie! We are DYING for this thing to come out! I went to our local college, this week, and they had made a mock up of one...sized right with the weight and everything (out of photocopies of the device)IT was soooooooo cool! We set aside some of our tax money for one but we are waiting until the 3G comes out, at the end of April. Better access for the future, for Faith. Totally phyched about it, too! Have you enjoyed the Proloqu2Go? It's our plan to use this program also. Supposedly the apple store at the college is going to have a demo on Monday! I'm gonna be banging on the doors before they even open! LOL!

Yes I would love one. I also have proloquo2go with the iTouch but my iTouch doesn't even have built in speakers and the screen is way to small... so i haven't spent time teaching Ashley it yet. The iPad would be heaven. How is Daniel doing with his augmentative speech? My making progress but slow and steady.

We're considering getting one for Charlie for his birthday in June, but he's a little too young for a complicated communication system. We'll probably just get another copy of Voice4U and use that. I really want him to have it for other things as well since he loves technology so much.

Hi Melanie,

This looks good - I use a "MyTobii" with a little boy I care for with cerebral palsy which is absolutely fantastic! I know they have other products too :)

Best Wishes
