Ms. M (Prechool Teacher)

It is really sad, Daniel just starts back at school and his teachers' last day was on Friday.
I liked her a lot. Makes me very sad that she isn't going to be there anymore. She left for maternity leave. I'm happy she gets some time off to care for her daughter and be with her before the next baby comes. But sad because she understood Daniel so much, and I know she cared for him too.

She is the reason that I was comfortable sending him off to school. She works with children of different needs and is really awesome. You can tell she loves being around the kiddos.

What sucks even more is that next year Daniel will be moving up to full day kindergarten and he will have a new teacher.

So I'm all boo-boo lipped about the whole thing. Here is a picture that pretty much sums up how we feel about the whole situation!


But we do wish Ms. M has fun with her growing family!

School Days ......Again



Guess who started back to school last week?

Yep....Daniel.
We got the clearance from his doctors that it was ok to go back.
He was out during flu season, his immune system is just not the strongest.
He is loving it, got right back into the swing of things. Me....not so much! I was so use to him being at home with me all the time. I love parts of him going to school, but I also love parts of the homeschooling time too.
We are blessed right now because we have a teacher who is awesome and we love her. She is what actually sold me on sending him to preschool in the first place. Two years ago if we hadn't met her I don't think I would have been sending him right now!

Here is the sucky part (you didn't think you'd get through this post without a sucky part did you?). Next school year Daniel will be in kindergarten. OMG - my little one in kindergarten, WOW where has the time gone?

Here is the super suck-ish part.Part One: Ms. Mills will NOT be there next year
Part Two: Kindergarten is full day.
REPEAT ...full days 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
I am sure my face during the IEP was priceless. I just about fell outta my seat, and I heard a few giggles. I had NO CLUE that it was a full day, and then to hear the actual hours 9 -4.
I'm having a hard time wrapping my arms around that. I keep trying to come up with a list of why this will be good for him, but I'm having a hard time. I have a few reasons why its good, but to justify it I have to come up with more.
  1. He loves being social

Week Two Lesson Plan


Well better late than not at all! Here is Daniel's lesson plan this week.

We've had an interesting week, but no time right now to post about it. I just read that last sentence and giggle because its only Tuesday and I say its been an interesting week! Well it has indeed....and there is more to come! Busy- busy week!

Wanted to say thanks to everyone who sent me ideas or posted ideas on how to improve Daniel's lesson plans. I am taking those into account. We do incorporate more things into the day besides what is written above, but the chart above just gives me ideas when I'm standing there going "Duh?!"

Daniel is really making some strides in certain areas. Happy Happy Joy Joy! I'll post more later, now I'm going to try to go to bed at a reasonable hour!

Officially the end.

Tomorrow I will be going to Daniel's school and picking up his stuff. He's done for the school year. He's been out of school for a couple weeks now. It started with him having a cold that worked into a sinus issue. Then the day I was going to send him back to school the teacher was nice enough to call and let me know that they had a confirmed case of swine flu in his room. So much for going back! She knows how difficult it is for Daniel to get over things, so believe me I really appreciated her call!

Anyways, Lonnie & I decided not to risk it and we just called it a school year ended early.
It kind of sucks because Daniel really did enjoy going to school. After all my complaining at the beginning of the year on how much I HATED IT, I ended up liking it. I liked it because Daniel seemed to enjoy himself and it got him away from me for a while. I am sure he gets sick of looking at me all the time!

It is good to know that Daniel will have the same teacher next year, which I am pleased with as I believe she really cares about Daniel and the other kids. She's one of those people that when you meet her you know 'she's good people' and she isn't fake. Or at least I think! :)

She's so good that she has actually got me to let Daniel attempt to ride the bus to school for the 3 blocks! That is a big accomplishment. Now we just need to work on Lonnie!

So tomorrow, I pick up his equipment. They are letting us use a stander they have for the summer. Which I am so thankful for because we don't have one. Trying to get a standing dani approved through our second insurance and its like pulling teeth!

So for Daniel, summer if officially here.......and now hopefully we will start with therapies and I'm hoping to get him into aquatic therapy or hippotherapy. We shall see!!
