Hey Michiganders

This sounds like fun so I thought I would pass the information along to fellow Michigan people who use AUGENTATIVE AND ALTERNATIVE COMMUNICATION.

Here it goes:

WHAT: A social gathering for people who use AAC and their families. A great time to have fun, socialize and bowl! This is an open invitation to all users of communication devices and their families.

WHERE: Plaza Lanes (www.plazalanesmi.com)

42001 Ann Arbor Rd. E

Plymouth, MI 48170

WHEN: Saturday, August 8th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

WHY: Bowl, meet others who use communication devices, network and share tips and strategies. This is the first of hopefully many, community based get together for people who use devices or alternative communications and their families.

RSVP: To Pat Nizio 313.655.7670 or p.nizio@sbcglobal.net no later than August 4, 2008. Acceptances only.

SPECIAL NOTES: Ramps and bumpers are available. Bowl 2 games for $5.00 (includes shoes if needed). Lanes and gathering room are non-smoking; a separate lounge area for smoking is available. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Permission has been given for individuals requiring specially prepared items to bring in their own snacks.

If you would like to know more about the event or other information you can visit MiSAAC Face book Page. (You do not need to join to view the information!)

Does this sound like a fun time?

This sounds like fun. I only wish Logan had an augmentative communication device. His first evaluation was over a year and a half ago and they said Logan wouldn't benefit from having one then. They said he wasn't cognitively ready for one. I had asked for another evaluation at his last IEP since he had gotten older and matured. Will have to revisit that when school starts again. There is nothing I would love more than to be able to communicate with Logan.
